Lets hope for a light at the end of the tunnel

I have become somewhat cynical when I see stories like this one. Still I always try to stay hopeful that this will go farther then just "money for studies" which is what we have seen so far when this type of proposal is brought up. Time will tell.

Commuter railroad, Edgewater receive funding for 2008

Two local projects are gaining momentum after the federal government announced funding for them last week.

The proposed Allegheny Valley commuter train will have $1 million set aside for planning and development for the lines to connect residents of the Alle-Kiski Valley and Monongahela Valley with downtown Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh International Airport.

The budget also set aside $50,000 for the former Edgewater Steel property in Oakmont to help the development and creation of jobs, housing and parks for residents.
