Christmas and New Years wishes to all rail fans
I have been very inactive on the blog for several months now and hope in the new year to start providing regular content again.
I want to take this opportunity to say that I hope the readers of the blog have had a blessed Christmas and that you have a very happy and healthy New Year.
Don't forget that in addition to all of the resources available to rail fans on the Internet that if you are in the Pittsburgh area there is a weekly radio net that meets to discuss all thing related to steel wheels on steel rails. This on the air meeting is held by a group of amateur radio operators where they have a moderated round table discussion. You do not have to have an amateur radio license to join in on the fun. Many avid rail fans have public safety or police scanners that they program to listen in on the local radio traffic of the lines that operate in their area. Now days almost all of these radio are can be programmed for any frequency you want to hear so all you need to do is enter 146.880 into one of the channels on your scanner and listen in every Thursday evening at 09:30 PM local time in Pittsburgh area.
If you would like to ask a question of the net I have set up an account where you can communicate with us and submit questions or comments for the net. The address is pittsburghrailfan@gmail.com or you can simple click this link Questions For The Rail Fan Net
I encourage you to use this email address rather than leaving comments here on the blog. Comments are welcome here but mainly in response to postings.
We also have a discussion group on Yahoo where you can exchange information with other rail fans which contains some interesting information. We also have a file section where you can share your train photos, frequency lists and other information that is relevant to our hobby. You may join the discussion group by clicking on the link below.
Thanks to all who take the time to read the blog and happy rail fanning in the new year!
